News:

Barbara Freethy to speak about Ross Greene's Collaborative Problem-Solving Method

We are pleased to announce that our speaker for the next TS Parent Support Group meeting on Sunday, April 5, will be Barbara B. Freethy, M.Ed. Barbara is a psychotherapist/educational therapist at Touchstone Psychotherapy Associates in Portland, Maine, where she has been in private practice for the past 10 years. She specializes in working with children and adults with social/cognitive diversity, most particularly with explosive noncompliant behavior and social thinking disorders. This includes individual, group and parent training related to ADD/ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Sensory Integration Issues, Nonverbal Learning Disabilities, Learning Differences and Gifted Children with Special Needs.

Many children with TS and related disorders are easily frustrated and chronically inflexible, behaviors that may be challenging for families, teachers, peers, and others. Parents who have attended the group in the past have asked for help with these behaviors. Barbara will do an overview of the Collaborative Problem-Solving Method by Ross Greene, then leave time for individual questions. Please feel free to e-mail us your questions in advance.

Barbara will speak from 2:00 to 3:30, then we will have time for parents to socialize and network.

Support Group Meeting Schedule has Changed!

The Portland-area support group now meets the second Sunday of each month at the LivingWell center in Westbrook. The change to Sunday was made to allow more time for guest speakers, informal discussions, and travel to and from the meeting.
